A masterclass in 'The Method' with Peter Kalos 

Take a masterclass in ‘The Method’. This is the first time Peter Kalos has opened his doors to the acting public for a lesson in the method of Lee Strasberg. Don’t miss this opportunity to expand your work with a teacher who has worked under the tutelage of Anna Strasberg and Stella Adler.


The Method is the most misunderstood tool we use in acting yet as they say at the Actor’s Studio “90% of the actors out there don’t use our work but 90% of the actors you admire do”. These are tools that some of the world’s best actors use.

The Meisner estate has invited Peter to their annual event which welcomes only 50 of the world’s leading teachers every year, however, anyone who knows Peter knows he couldn’t possibly go because he teaches 50 weeks a year! 

Peter’s passion is to create great Australian work and he freely invites directors, producers, writers and film makers to all of his classes to watch the work. Here you can learn about the process of the actor and through that, find the best to work with actors. It is a passion of his that we create a collaborative environment for film, TV and theatre where actors and directors alike are all working on the same level. In the new theatre attached to the Melbourne actors lab it is a dream that we will create entire plays in collaboration with Australian playwrights.

Some of the work that will be covered:

The actors relaxation- How to do it effectively and the need to do it on a regular basis; 

Sensory work- The foundation of the method. How to use it as an ongoing exercise to train the actors mind and body. Sensory is used from the very beginning of your career to the very end, forever changing and evolving; 

The famous coffee cup exercise will be explained and you will understand why many of the best actors do it for years as a training tool; 

Improvisational skills that will teach you how to extract what you need from your scenes specifically so that you can use it in a practical way; 

How not to think of emotion as a result that needs to be attained; 

Character work skills that will truly help you bring your ideas to the body rather than just thoughts about a character that don't translate; 

How to make choices, not just to be interesting or creative, but choices to shed a different light on the meaning of a scene.
